Whistling a happy tune...

I’ve always loved old musicals, and one of my favourites is ‘The King and I’ even though I cry my heart out at the ending evry time. (And at Carousel. And Fiddler on the Rood. And Oklahoma. And Les Mis.) Actually, now I come to think of it, I can’t think of any musicals with a happy ending but I’m wandering off the point - and aren’t you surprised?

Writing’s geat fun. Publishing, on the other hand is downright terrifying. What if it’s not good enough? What if I’m about to set an Amazon record for the number of one star reviews? Or, worse still, no one notices my books at all? That’s not a cheerful thought to deal with while you’re navigating your way through unfamiliar processes, so I decided that what I needed was a really positive playlist.

And here’s the first track. ‘Whenever I feel afraid, I hold my head erect and whistle a happy tune, so no one ever knows I’m afraid…” Only all of you know now; so that’s another cunning plan that didn’t work out!

Seriously, kindness goes a long way in the world and I bet I’m not the only one who’s scared of doing something new. So if you are tackling something new or tough then I’d like to wish you luck. After all, you’ll be doing the same for me, won’t you?
