The sun came out this morning, and so did the daffodils in the garden, so off we went to the Harbour to see what we could see. I’d been planning to be good and stick to a short walk because my stupid joints aren't happy, honestly, I had been, but the sun was shining on the water, the boats were dancing on the sea and I thought to myself ‘if it hurts later, so be it.’ I shall have had the sunshine on my face and the last chances to see the Brent Geese till the autumn because they’ll be heading back to Siberia and Russia soon and then we’ll know that the frosts are past.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are some to share with you. The long legged bird is a Godwit, which are unusual on Brownsea Island, so I presume one popped over to Harbourside for a change! He or she was beautiful and so unbothered by us mere humans. The pair of swans on the sea were gorgeous too and we walked along the beach and collected shells and saw the turnstones and the oyster catchers and my sense of ‘spring isn’t far away’ got gloriously strong. I’ve got washing on the line too, and steak pie, chips and mushrooms and millionaires cheesecake for lunch as I celebrate 10 years since my husband came through a major operation that there was a fair chance that he wouldn’t. It’s also 5 years since I passed my driving test, so it struck me that today should be celebrated.

I do know that the weather for the rest of the week isn’t as good, but that gives me time for the indoor jobs and I had today out there so I am beyond happy and heading well into thrilled territory.
So now onto this weeks special offers and a little ‘coming soon’ plug for the next Amy Hammond story which is out next Thursday and is called one wife too many. Which my husband may sometimes think he has!
But this weeks offers are 3 from the Shadows series which I write as Eleanor Neville because they’re a little darker and sexier. These are Kisschase, Guardian Angel and Daymare. Kisschase is partly set down on the beach in summer and has a gorgeous dog who is search and rescue trained because I may be a cat person but I also love well trained dogs.
Writing as Tia Brown we have the first three Amy Hammond books. , Wasted on the Young, Up the Garden Path and A Stitch in Time. I’ve been amusing myself early this morning by writing the first draft of how they met, which was just before Christmas and will be in the Christmas anthology which is provisionally titled ‘Home for the Holidays’ and shows how a tired, weary spy ran away and found home and love.
See you on Sunday and here’s hoping the weather forecast is wrong and we all find calm seas and following winds.
