The sky has gone a funny colour.

It’s blue with fluffy white clouds and there’s this yellow thing that’s bringing warmth to the world and making the flowers come into bloom. I’ve got washing on the line, my gnome eating cats are in place where they hope people won’t see them. The birds are singing. I’ve been for a walk. Yes, I know, it’s another week till the start of meteorological spring and the less we say about the weather forecast, the better, but today I can see it coming. Even the cats are in the garden again and it's such a relief after weeks of anticyclonic gloom.

In a world where there seems to be so much darkness and hate I think it is so important to remember these little things, and to do practical things. In my case, that means supporting the Red Cross and the RNLI so they can be there when they’re needed. I’m not capable of doing that but I can and do give, so when you buy my books you support those charities too.

I’ve got a date with some weeding so I hope you’ll excuse me till we meet again on Tuesday. Until then, here’s a happy picture of a beautiful black cat in a sunny garden…
