The cats were right after all

For years, I’ve laughed at them when they come in because they’re disgusted with the weather and then demand to go out the other door in case it’s nicer there. Only right now (Saturday midmorning) it’s raining in the back garden but not the front garden.
We also had a rainbow at the front of the house, but not the back, earlier on. That was good, because I felt in need of a rainbow. After all, right now the world seems to be a dark and frequently nasty place where too many people hate anyone who won’t agree with them and do as they’re told. Maybe I am getting old, because I can remember when politicians and so-called influencers could debate without hurling insults and at least tried to check their facts.
That’s why I’m leaving the so-called real world behind and researching and writing, and escaping to Swansmere, where Luke and Stacy are getting married. After that, unusually for me, I’m writing next year’s Christmas one pretty much back to back and dreaming up my idea of a lovely place to go at Christmas. There’ll be special Christmas fudges, and I shall go to the sweet shop on Poole Quay so I can try them all for you because it’s so important to be accurate.
It’s a bit early to write it, but if ever there was a time to pray for peace on earth, then this seems to be it. That's why I'm wishing you all well, and hoping you too can steal moments of happiness because I have a strong suspicion that things aren’t that bad. It’s just people want us to think they are, so we’ll do as we’re told.
So how about this week we all do as we want to, and make sure we do things that make us happy, because in my experience, happy people don’t want to make other people unhappy. If we all did it, then maybe we could start to change the world. I’m not quite saying one piece of fudge, or one bag of bulbs or plants to change the world, but if we’re happy, then we might make other people happy, and then it could spread. And if it annoys the doommongers, then that’ll be fun too, won’t it?
That’s why I shall go and clear litter from the beach as soon as it stops raining. I shall walk along by the Harbour where people are kind, time goes more slowly, and amazing things happen. I hope you can find a place that makes you happy too.
The picture below is of the magnificent and well fed animal I know as The Harbour Cat. He is out on patrol, and enjoys very fresh fish as much as seagulls do.
