Stormy weather…

This weekend we're forecast to have 60mph winds and torrential rain, and I'm reminded of the line from the old song ‘The weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful…’ I am so, so grateful that I can stay indoors this weekend and putter gently as Christmas sneaks gently into the house. As I type this on Saturday morning the Christmas tree lights and LED candles are on, and the living room curtains are drawn but there’s not much in the way of light and the wind is howling around the house as if it’s trying to come down the chimney.

I am so lucky because I have Italian pastries to eat while travelling via the internet to visit Italian Christmas shops and markets and see what they eat and enjoy. This is one of my Christmas things now that Christmas markets aren’t an option for me. I’m also slowly and steadily cutting the fabric for next year’s quilts and then pinning them while I watch and nibble for half an hour or so each day. It’s amazing how Christmassy it makes me feel and how many ideas I get that I can try at home because I match the snack to the country and expand my repertoire

I’m also thinking that the winter solstice is two weeks today and the days will gently, gently get longer from then on. I’m not wishing the days away, but I am aware of it and that when I’ve finished planning Christmas my mind will turn to planning the garden.

But before the weather drew in we went down to the Quay in the evening and they say that a picture is worth a thousand words so here are some to share with you.

Stay safe, dry and warm till we meet again!
