LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION…

I was out for my walk on a grey, misty morning when I saw this beautiful grey heron, standing stock still. Except, of course, that he began to pose when he saw us coming. He didn’t quite toss his head to show off his straggly hairdo, but it was pretty close. He was so beautiful and still, and so were the egrets down at the Harbour, but you’ve seen them before.

Sadly, I didn’t get to photograph the pollution-stopping boom, but I gather the tests went well and they’re being modified, so there’s more insurance for the harbour which is just as well because the National Trust and RSPB both say it’s a record-breaking year. The turnstones have settled in nicely, and more starlings seem to arrive each day. The second batch of swallows and butterflies have fed and are on their way to Africa, and more terns have arrived, with their distinctive cry.

And, because this is my beloved Poole, here’s a newspaper story for you about a car ending up in the water. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0ez2p32wgpo I was also talking to someone about writing, and he reckoned that landscape gardeners would make good serial killers because they’d have plenty of places to bury bodies and a lot of their customers are out all day.

On which cheerful thought, have a good week and I’ll see you on Tuesday.
