Happy endings, sunny days

First and most importantly, here is a picture of Mama Goose, Papa Goose and six little goslings, including the Little Master that I rescued from the crow on Friday. No harm done, and they came to us to be fed which was rather special.

All in all, it was a special walk, and this is a day to say a picture is worth a thousand words because here are Punky, Lucky and 9 cygnets. We’ve known Punky since he was a stroppy cygnet with a fishing hook caught in his beak, and he can have a bit of a temper, but he’s lovely with us, so I like to think he remembers all the frozen peas we fed him.

And here is his son, Perky (there were only 2 that year so we called them Pinky and Perky). His mate is Poppet, and last year we rescued him when he’d got himself caught up in bindweed and was panicking. Poppet is now sitting on the nest so fingers crossed for more babies to come.

Last but not least are the pull back and go ducklings, out on the big lake for the first time that we’ve seen them.

So much of this world seems to be grey and bleak and full of bad news, but the park is full of life and hope and I never want to stop going ‘oooh’ when I see them!
Nor do I ever want to stop telling stories, so on to this months book, which is out on Thursday and is the latest in the Esther and the Professor World War Two series. Esther’s husband is missing in action but there’s something odd about what she’s hearing so she decides not to tell her family till she knows more. She doesn’t know why she’s so sure she isn’t dead, but with the help of Professor James Lomax, his cousin Kit Carmichael and the redoubtable Jen Morgan they start to piece together a picture that has serious implications home and abroad.
And here’s the cover….

There are also some special offers at 99p in the UK and 99c in the US. This week they are all six of the Lavender House series of cosy romances. They’re set down by the sea in Sandbanks at an old house and it’s outbuildings that have been converted into some status homes and some affordable ones. They also come complete with a matchmaking ghost! They’re House of Dreams, Ghost of Dreams, Ghost of A Chance, A time to fight, Sunshine and Shadow and Love Always.
So see you again on Sunday and I hope the sun shines on you wherever you are.
