Father Christmas looks a bit different today...

Christmas is coming.
Well, of course it is, I hear you say. What could be controversial about that? It’s the season of goodwill, so of course Santa will soon be delivering presents at the local soft play in Poole Park. So I smiled as I glanced across as they started work and then saw…

Yup, that is an inflatable dinosaur in a Santa hat with a parcel gripped in his or her jaws. I suppose it’s a great incentive to be good, isn’t it? Be good and you get the present. Misbehave, and there’s one less for Christmas dinner and far fewer presents to buy, along with a happy dinosaur, which I always think is so important at Christmas, don’t you?

I'll happily admit that I am excited that Christmas is sneaking in. I enjoy watching the men in cherry pickers putting up the decorations all along the high street and the shop decorations going up. We don’t put the decorations up till the 1st of December and that’s when we start playing carols and Christmas music too. Then my red and white striped pinny goes on, and I bake Christmas treats from all around the world and visit Christmas markets and shops selling amazing decorations courtesy of YouTube and generally snuggle in.

So right now, I’m finishing buying the last few presents and collating details of what I’ll be doing in December. I’m going to be an elf again, collecting money for charity while the Santa Train goes round the streets. After all, if a dinosaur can be Santa, then why shouldn’t elves in Poole wear hi viz jackets with their elf hats?

I’ll be fun, because I’ll put the work into making it fun. My darling husband’s beside me and he’s just muttered, ‘It wouldn’t dare be anything else.’ You know what? I think he’s right… But don’t let on, will you? So have fun till Tuesday and see you then.
