And the sun came out for a little while…

When it did, it was a beautiful walk and I kept stopping to watch the birds. How can I have lived so long without realising that pied wagtails genuinely do wag their tails as they sort of bounce along rather than hop? A very cute robin followed us on our walk back. It’s as if he realised that I had a bag of dried mealworm in my coat pocket!

It’s November, which doesn’t seem possible because I hardly seem to have blinked since last Christmas and here it comes again. I’ve started planning how I’ll decorate the house. It’s going to be lots and lots of LED candles with pretty candle rings round them so the whole place is elegant but glows with light. Or at least, that’s the plan. I’ll let you know what happens when it meets reality

The parkin I made last week has matured and is rich and dark and sticky. It’s part of a plan I’ve got to go through a year with traditional recipes. Amy’s going to be doing that at Swansmere because we’ve got a lot in common. Just not the ex-spy husband and the trail of bodies. Although he wouldn’t tell me if he used to be a spy, would he? And I certainly wouldn’t want to talk about bodies to my friends, would I?

Thinking that leads me nicely to next week’s 2 books which are due out on Thursday. There’s ‘By Special Request’ which came about following Jan’s request to hear more about the Adams Family in the Windy Bay series. I put a call out on the blog to find out what other people would like and so I know at least one person will enjoy each story. My personal favourites are the gremlins and the second Amy Hammond story, and that’s all I’m saying.

There’s also the last in the current Windy Bay set of 3 books, although the next 3 are written ready to work on before you get them next year. This one ‘The Little School at Windy Bay’ made me cry when I was writing it, which is always a good sign. Don’t worry, it’s Windy Bay so there has to be a happy ending and that’s what made me cry.

So there we are till Wednesday, and here are a couple of photographs of Friday while I remember how lucky I am not to live in Spain at the moment and send my love to all my Spanish readers who are having it tough. Take care, all of you.
