Nuts!

This started when the nice people at Ocado swapped my bag of mixed nuts for a super posh hand-roasted limited-edition bag of nuts at Christmas. They were gorgeous, and there was none of that stuff at the bottom of the bag, so I thought ‘I’ll have a go at that’ because then I’d know what was (and wasn’t in it) and I could reduce the salt.
They’re amazingly simple, and you can find some recipes here.

You don’t need to add the chilli. I like them with paprika.

Nige makes them at the New Druett Arms in 'Too good to Waste'. I really enjoyed writing that one because I tried out loads of recipes. I'm pretty sure that Seema and Jo make a spicier version down at the Farm Kitchen in the Amy Hammond books, because they're lovely and warm and I could imagine them being served in paper cones for Divali, Bonfire Night and New Years Eve fireworks. And don't I wish it was real!
